John "Jack" Sullivan ChFC®, CLU®, RICP®

Advisor, Founding Partner

Fifty-two years in this industry have taught me that the financial decisions people bring to our door are rarely just about money. They're about family, security, legacy, and the kind of life someone has worked their entire career to build. That's the work I find most meaningful, and it's what has kept me here.

My path into financial planning started with a mentor. After graduating from Lafayette College with a degree in International Affairs, a fellow alumnus who ran a financial planning firm in Philadelphia invited me to join him. Over the next decade, he taught me not just the craft of financial planning, but what it means to build something of your own. That foundation led me to start my own firm in 1985, and eventually to co-found Capital Planning alongside David Bahnick in 1994.

I went on to earn a Master's in Financial Services from the American College and have held professional designations including ChFC®, CLU®, and RICP® for decades. Much of my work now centers on retirement planning and the financial questions that come with later life stages, areas where experience and judgment matter as much as technical knowledge. What I've found over the years is that clients often want guidance on life decisions, not just financial ones, and I consider that trust a privilege.

Growing up in Easton in the 1950s and 60s, music was a big part of my life. I played piano, organ, and violin, and served as the college organist at Lafayette's chapel. That appreciation for music, along with a love of early American and Civil War history, has stayed with me.

My wife Marguerite and I have been married for over 48 years. We have five daughters, ten grandchildren, and a family that fills our lives with a lot of joy and noise. We spend part of our year at a home on Crystal Lake in New Hampshire, a place our family has been gathering around for generations, and the rest of our time in downtown Bethlehem, PA. Faith is the anchor of our family. I serve as an Elder and teacher at our local church, and on the Executive Board of the Bible Fellowship Church denomination.
